Heaven on Earth
Heaven on Earth
Just recently I sat at a Christian Coffee Shop soaking in the aroma of coffee, Jesus and new friendship. As I sat sipping my coffee and connecting with a new friend, she and I both gushed over the sweet love Jesus has for us all. It was so amazing to sit and hear her story and share mine. Before I knew it, we were ordering our second cup of coffee and giggling about how easy it is to lose track of time when you are in good company and discussing Jesus. I immediately, without missing a beat, said, “I wonder if that is what Heaven is like?”
Have you ever sat and thought about Heaven? We hear of near death experiences and their testimony of seeing heaven. We hear about people who can’t even explain the colors in Heaven because there are no colors like that on Earth. What if Heaven is like sitting in a beautiful coffee shop losing track of time because the Holy Spirit connected you and another soul? What if Heaven is like connecting with someone you know nothing about but feeling like you've known them forever?
I truly believe that we can experience Heaven here on Earth in many ways! In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus told us to pray,
“Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
I believe that if Jesus told us to pray this way, then it would be possible to experience Heaven here on Earth. If you truly believe what you are praying for while praying the Lord’s Prayer, then so should you.
Eyes on Jesus
We are asking the Lord to allow us to experience His will from Heaven here on Earth. If you align yourself with God’s will, there is no other feeling like that. You are moving forward even when you don’t know what the next step looks like, but your eyes are on Jesus. You are meeting people you normally wouldn’t, but the Holy Spirit said connect. You are stepping outside your comfort zone because the Holy Spirit said Go. It’s in those moments that you get to experience God’s glory. When your eyes are on Jesus, even when you don’t know how it's going to work out, He sees your faith and our God is faithful!
Remember Peter’s story when he walked on water? His eyes were on Jesus but the moment he looked around and started doubting, he started sinking. But our God! When Peter cried out, Jesus reached down and saved him. Can you imagine? Walking on water? I am positive Peter experienced a little bit of heaven that day. Even in his doubt, Jesus showed up and showed out! You move in faith and Jesus does what He does and you, my sweet friend, answered the call and will experience heaven just like Peter in Matthew 14:22-33.
What if one day you will see that person in Heaven because you answered the call?
When you feel that nudge deep in your heart to do something, even when it feels uncomfortable, act. That is when Jesus will use you and people will see the hands and feet of Jesus. Jesus works, sometimes through us, but we have to answer the call. If we don’t, someone will miss that opportunity to meet Jesus, have a prayer answered, make a new friend, miss out on the solution you have for them and you miss out on the plan He had for you at that moment. The Spirit of God lives in us but we have the free choice to move or stay put. If we don’t move, we have to live with the choice we made not to experience what God had planned for us.
Sometimes we hear people say, “Man, I’ve been thinking about you! I should have called. I had no idea you were dealing with that.” Or “I can’t shake this feeling that something is wrong. I’ll call them later.” But never do because they got busy. Shoot, I know I am guilty of that. Are you? What if we can be the hands and feet of Jesus whether they are a believer or not? Maybe you would be an answered prayer, or the person to share the gospel. What if one day you will see that person in Heaven because you answered the call? What if you changed the mind of someone considering suicide because you answered the call? What if you were in the right place and at the right time because you answered the call? Let’s not let our busy life be the reason we don’t answer Jesus’ call and miss out on a little bit of Heaven here on Earth.
Who is the person you need to call today or make time for?
